  As promised: here's how I made the sailboat for my Winning project for the Frilly and Funkie Challenge #9 "Surf's Up!" . If you haven't seen the photos from my blogpost, just CLICK HERE TO READ  and catch up. There were many who asked how I did this since there were no "BTS" photos taken. But, actually, the photos WERE taken, just not uploaded before having my iPhone 6s flip off the top of our new Ford Fusion on Mother's Day on our way out to lunch after church. It was on the top of the NEW CAR and I forgot simply because it is a NEW CAR: The ChiefHubby had hit a deer with "Little Blue" our 2012 Toyota Prius that we had a lot of fun traveling in (52 mpg). So I normally would see my black/silver snuggie-cover up against the bright blue, as very noticeable. But, having it blend in on the silver... totally forgotten till we got to our destination. For those of you who said I "took it in good humor" or other nicely worded phrases... I BAWLED MY EYES OUT!!! We're talkin' that was my CAMERA and PHOTOS, ppl!!!! After my last little Canon gave out...after the Kodak gave out...after the OTHER little digitals (including Sony, etc)….the ChiefHubby asked if I could just do the same things with a cellphone since he had gotten an Android and was doing VERY NICELY with photo work (esp his pics taken of his Haiti trip for Missions when I had to stay home). So I went with the Android, and then...from a virus wrapped around a usual FORWARD send thru Messenger (DO NOT DO THOSE, FOLKS...) we lost not only BOTH droid cells, but BOTH ENTIRE PC desktops! That meant we had to upgrade (they LIE, folks....I had been successfully doing Windows XP for FOUR YEARS after they cut off the help). My fave programs were just going to be dust...and they WERE. So we upgraded to both Windows 10 setups for each of us, PLUS; TWO NEW iPHONES (he got the 7 and I wanted the 6s) and after MUCHO HEADACHES of searching for (with SOME success, but not all of them) the upgrades to each of my camera/photo programs...I was all set go-is-for-green. Then I lost my iPhone. Thankfully, I had just backed it up on my MyBook. (It is a terabyte photo saver file that has lasted this Photographer over 7 years of pics- INVEST IN ONE!! It auto backs up and saves your entire documents, photos, anything, even if your PC/laptop/other gets totally FRIED!!) Thanks to a Teacher up at our old HS who gave me the head's up on that and the CH got it for me for Christmas that year.
               Yes, all that info up there is pertinent to this post. You see....my PC setup is how I make things like that sailboat! Most ppl have a file or two of what I call "Odds & Ends" which are photos they save of some stamp set they want, or a pic of something they want to copy for themselves or their own décor that someone else made. I guess I couldda gotten rich making PINTEREST because basically- that is what my files ARE. So I have tons of what I call "black and white printouts", "Scrapbooking Pages I like", or "Things I want to do next". In one of those is the print of a Stamp Set that I have NOT yet successfully found. And, the sailboat itself can easily be found the same way I found it before even finding it was part of a stamp set... just GOOGLE IT!
Type in "sailboat", "vintage sailboat", "vintage sailing ship", or whatever description you are looking for. Now, there is a thing called Copyright. And that thing does allow you to USE their Copyrighted item. It is owned by them under law saying YOU are NOT allowed to 'profit from' their owned, registered item- in this case it turns out it is a STAMP SET, not just a photo floating around. So, this means if you decided to copy what they made...and crafts, tools, and their combined things used....fall under this: you are not allowed to make money from it. I am very blessed in that my ChiefHubby has a very good job, with nice insurance and nice benefits. He's been there almost 30 years now and is ready to retire. So there has never been any need for ME to make money from the things I make. And if I am asked to make a certain item or gift....I never charge money for it. I've done weddings with my photography, and crafts, cakes, gifts, flowers (I started out charging for 5 weddings and then nixed doing that). So I really have no problem with the Copyright thing, and if I do: I simply go to the owner and ASK. Craft ppl are among the BEST PPL in the WORLD and while we each have our 'own brand' or personalization; I have never run into a problem saying "so and so" gave me this idea.
               So here are the sailboats I like the best of all the tons I have found. And after those, is a photo of my own real sailboat "The Wind In Her Sail". The wording is formed into the shape of an upper case L and stands for both LORD and Lyla since The LORD puts the wind into my sail and HE allows me to go where I like but guides me into peaceful, strong winds to keep me on course. :)

It made a really cool outline for the back of the Folio!

This is what I call "stock photo" because it is pretty basic and after printing out, you can easily cut the 'shadow' off and make it one-dimensional. Or cut two or three of the same to make a multi-dimensional item. 

This one is really close to the one right above, but printing it out becomes very messy if you don't work with a printer like a pro. I used to go through one Canon Printer EVERY YEAR when I worked as Volunteer at our Elementary and HS. Before digital pics became the norm....you should have seen my photo development bill each month. lol

So printing this one is only good for using it as a tracing tool - in moho.

Now, if you can FIND the stamps (and I have found these, but didn't purchase them because I never really thought I'd use THESE pics, and I haven't. They are kind of complicated for cutting if you don't have the die or the thinlets that match. That's why TIM HOLTZ's sets are SO GREAT!!!

He has two tons of sets and just recently are the TICKETS!!

But now that I am waiting on an order to get here (from The Funkie Junkie Boutique of course)

that includes the new SEASHELLS...I am still waiting on him to design a simple SAILBOAT and another SAILING SHIP. (So how about it, Tim??) He does have stamps for the anchor, seashells, etc, and you can trim around them all (Blueprints Sketch sets) easily. 

That leaves me with my fave set but not the HB note (bottom left), nor the birds (top right).

But the sailboat had me right away!! I have not found this set yet and still hope to.

You can easily make a BETTER photo copy of this by doing what I do:

1.- stamp your stamp in  Archival Ink (it dries fast and permanent)

2.- use your printer/scanner to scan the stamped paper to load to your pc

3.- enlarge to desired proportion using a GOOD PROGRAM/APP

Here is where the "GOOD" comes in at: I used to have PrintMaster GOLD 17 and used it since 1997...probably on a daily or at least weekly basis. Till The Big Crash of last summer.

The closest program I could find is called "Photo Studio Expressions" and YES; it did just load up all my other 'old' files and upgrade them to the new program!! (Win-Win Situation: very nicely priced through Amazon!) So you load that stamped image item and then you can import it into the desired program to enlarge....and on the PM17 or later...or the PSExpressions….simply add whatever change or duplicate the size/mirrored image then print.

Be sure to "SAVE AS" whatever you make- if you choose to make changes, then title them as such so you can go back for a reprint in case of mistakes. (Example: I made 6 of these the same size but MIRRORED three of them to face the PORT SIDE - or lefthand side- and the other three faced the starboard side - or righthand side. So I could choose which way my sailboat was going to go.

4. COLOR in your pieces you are choosing to cut...OR you can wait until you are finished cutting since you will likely do as I did and touch up some areas that end up showing while other areas did not when I thought they would show. This is up to you.

5.- Cut your layers- as many as you want to make your sail look "full of wind" and remember to USE YOUR DIRECTION; imagine a fan blowing behind you....where do you feel the wind hitting? YOU are sitting DOWNWARD AND BEHIND of the sail. So the wind is hitting your sail and pushing it out in billows. Now, take those layers and remember that there are THREE sheets of sail here. You care in the MIDDLE of all three, as one is at your P- left...one is S-right...and one up above, in this case I chose it to be on the left or Portside.

6. now FOLD all those layers so they are filling up with wind.

7 .Lay all the pieces onto the ONE FULL IMAGE.

8. poke holes where you want the ropes to all go. I added knots in mine for realism. If you want to do that, I advise you to remember one sailing tip: every end is always knotted on itself...to keep it from slipping through the knot it is tied into.

Cast off and let's head for blue waters.....

Sometimes, the winds are slow and I can lay out in my sailboat and just watch the Eagles, Hawks, and Buzzards fly overhead. They circle as I whistle out, and it's stunning to watch them!

Sometimes,  the wind is wild and I have to make really quick "dives" to the other side of the boat in order to miss the boom swinging over and tipping upside down. (And I used to do that pretty often when I first got her! But as you can see in the video, I can record heavy winds for short distances without even thinking which way to steer the rudder or how hard to pull and trim the sail.

I do like to "push the envelope" as far as it can go, as my ChiefHubby says. And I have the bruises to prove it, lol! But even with the RA and other things that can bring a person down in life...

being out there in GOD's beautiful Created waters....nothing like it in the world!!!

Frilly and Funkie Challenge #10 "Layers of Lace"....."Three Ladies In Lace"

     June brings in SUMMER with it- and travel to see/be with family. Just next week will bring our entire family (of 7) together camping over a long weekend. While the time will be short, indeed, I am grateful we can all get time together because both our boys' work schedules are very full. The girls are both at home for the summer, but since the older is still taking classes, and the younger is a HS Teacher- it will be over before they can say "The 5 Seconds of Summer 2018"! So, I will take all the moments with them all that I can get!

        Again; you will see my own family "modeled" here in this Tag since it mimics the favorite colors of both the girls and myself- Pink is mine, blue is Ashley, and Purple is Holli. So let's get this done...before 11pm strikes and I turn back into a PUMPKIN! lol!

The entire idea came from other ppl: seeing those 3 ballarinas together in the TH Paper Dolls, set my mind in motion with a little "thingie" I made several years ago, but never used it for anything.

The plan started coming together when I thought up doing some pop of colors on the ladies.

And it REALLY took off after I got the idea to put more than just one layer of "paper lace" for the large dress. Alas- doing the same on the smaller ones was too much and I really needed more real lace to fill out the requirements.

MY idea of LACE means lots of things can look like lace, and these little disk beads I keep in my stash of mini bead feathers (def a  pull in my inner Native American Indian) seemed to call out "Look at ME; don't I look a bit like LACE?!"

I hadda answer "YES,"!

Sewing a bit of the lace bits onto the Tag front- Black seemed like it would give a pop to the background- made w TH Distress Oxide (MY FAVE: Vintage Photo) that also got a lacy embossing.

The little bits of Frill- just for the FRILLY of it!!

The bottom TH IdeaOlogy Corners also looked 'lacey', so why not?

You gotta admit: Girls DO just gotta have FUN!

The BACKSIDE- has a sneak surprise in it....

The little tag is from the outside package of TH GrungePaper- LOVE that little included TAG!-

that was embossed from a TH Embossing Folder with one little corner having a musical note (Games??) because we Wives usually have to do a "song and dance" to get them to do something THEY don't want to do but WE want the Husbands to do!

A TH IdeaOlogy Key and a RETIRED IdeaOlogy Bauble rounded this out. Showing that what you will see inside is definitely DOCUMENTED....

The point is made: they are always watching and protecting their LADIES....

And I think I must be a bad example- cause I DO see the girls doing their jobs as "Wife" really, really WELL! I am proud of the homes they have made for our boys, and very proud our boys follow their Dad in taking good care of their WIVES

Frilly and Funkie Challenge #9 "Surf's Up" ... It's s Treasured Sailing Journey!

    AHOY THERE!
     This Challenge, "Surf's Up", was right down my wake! I love anything that has to do with ocean, water, beach, boats, etc. I practically live outside whenever the weather is fine, and since we have a pool and a private lake...I can honestly say I spend quite a bit of time on my "sea legs". We just made the first fishing trip of the year on Saturday- and took the Wittle Peanut (nickname for our First Grandchild, Cole) on his very first boat trip. Yep; he's definitely a Sailor Boy!! Four hours out there and not one single toy with us; he had a blast! And slept sooooo good afterward! I really hoped to be able to get my sailboat launched as well as the pontoon, but we scarcely had time for getting one boat out, let alone two. So here's hoping by tomorrow (or rather TODAY since this is either very late Monday, or very early Tuesday- depending on if you're an Early Bird, or a Night Owl like me)… I'll be out on the lake flying with the Wind In Her Sail!! Said sailboat was my inspiration for this project.
       And while I really WISHED I could be posting photos taken as this was created, I am not able to since after church on Mother's Day, I invented the Flip iPhone!! I really don't think it will catch on, though, since it was a very expensive lesson in time and money both in searching for said learning how to find your lost iPhone that ended up destroyed. Got the new one right here and ready to launch. (Thank you, ChiefHubby; esp since you went through THREE cell phones in one year- including teaching ME the original "Flip ur iPhone off the top of the car" trick. lol!) So. That's why no BTS pics. Sorry, folks.
                                 Let's get to what I DO have to show....

The finished project becomes one of my favorite!

When you're out there with the wind behind you, and the sun in front of you...

it really DOES awaken the soul!

I had a lot of FUN doing the layers on this!

Not just the boat itself, but the background and the water are layered as well.

The keychain needed a bit more: a TH (retired) IdeaOlogy Bauble pearl

matched up nicely with a seashell charm out of my stash.

The TH IdeaOlogy Compass Coins are one of my VERY FAVE items!

I try to keep a nice pile of them handy. This Compass points to the SE direction...

we're headed for WARM blue waters!

But the Compass needed The North Star in order to set the right direction- 

so a TH IdeaOlogy Mirrored Star was perfect!

Just flip the entire thing over...

and you'll find TREASURE!!!!

Again: I am using the TH Big Ticket M&S Die since this will also be on the ringed items to form a booklet type of thing when I am satisfied which projects I want to add in on that.

The TH IdeaOlogy Hitches that are on the front side roping the sailboat in,

now do double-duty as "feet" for the Treasure Chest!

And yes; the layered Chest is a take-off idea from my last project

(Frilly & Funkie Challenge #8- in Archives).

Backside of the Chest lid: using TH Long Fasteners both directions on

this "faux leather" made from TH Grunge Paper (another VERY FAVE item).

The 'straps' were cut using TH Alterations Die Hardware Findings (which again was used on the Booklet of the F&F Challenge #8). The 'lock' was also made from the same die and Grunge Paper, only double-layered and embossed with just a touch of fussy fake rust added by using Distress Ink Vintage Photo and embossing lightly but not letting the embossing get glossy.

I cut off the 'filigree' end of the die cut...and used the hole to attach to the other side of the lid.

It just made sense and looked nice, too. The lock closes with tiny stickon Velcro.

And we needed some items to be able to add little notations, or a photo or two.

So inside the Chest, you find a wealth of TREASURE!

The entire setup shown opened up.

First up: 2 Captains Tickets and 2 Passenger Tickets...

for only TWO PEOPLE!

You see; both the ChiefHubby and I have a boat- he has the pontoon and I have the sailboat.

So each of us is a Captain (and the Captain is ALWAYS RIGHT!) and each of us is a Passenger.

Unfortunately, the ChiefHubby is not equipped with REALLY good Sea Legs.

Short of it: his balance sucks. So he's not that great at fitting down into the sailboat and making those FAST rollovers to keep you from getting bonked in the head by the Boom. So I really get out there and fly with the wind (or sit with no wind) while he motors around taking videos of me. hehe!

The double-sided fish are die cut from Sizzix Tags #1 then fussy-cut into fish.

I used TH corestock colors, sanding, then using my TH Distress Ink Markers to make some

details. Then roped them up and used the ends of the rope for 'handles' of the Chest on the outside.

Even the tiniest fish can be used: I chose to use a date stamper for our first trip - 

we took 2 Besties with us and the 3 of them (I spent my time playing with Wittle Peanut and enjoying his laughter!) caught 46 fish!! Mostly Crappie (Bluegill or Sunfish) but Mark 

caught the very first... a nice 8 inch large mouth Bass. Now THAT'S good luck! 

And at the very bottom: lots more layers...I used TH Embossing Folder Travel on the 'water' and 'sand', then began making the rest from TH corestock using TH Alterations M&S Mini Sand and Sea and TH Decorative Strip Die Spring Greenery. Tim did a "12 Tags of" one year- when the Sand and Sea Dies first came out. I fell in LOVE with those dies and as soon as I could- ordered both online. The Tag from that month was - and still is- one of my faves ever! So I always wanted to revisit that Tag...and here it is in a Treasure Chest! I chose not to add any emboss to the clear cut that separates the bottom from the other items stored on top. On Tim's Tag- we added bubbles embossed into it back then. I wanted to keep it looking like you were at the Aquarium (and we've been to two of the largest ones on the East Coast)- I think I nailed it. :)

my ChiefHubby and I did in our home over March and April, and hope I'll be able to

get that posted up this week. That new iPhone will get its first big workout. :)

Frilly and Funkie Challenge No.8- Neutral Point of View.... An Original Little BIG TICKET Booklet!

      Wow: it is SO GOOD to be able to MOVE without total pain!!! And, when I am able to move- I usually never stop! So that means I have not only finished with the flooring in the house, cleaned every single item in the house (we began in mid-March and finished totally at the end of April!), but also got all the decking stained this past week. And considering the fact that we have almost as much decking as we have inside square living space.... that is a HUGE job FINISHED!! I am happy to say that we are now only having to open the pool and just take a lazy day to ENJOY planting all my summer flowers! The hostas have all come up almost full now- the nicest, largest hostas I have seen in the neighborhood!! WOW: I am usually the last one to get mine blooming! (Growing plants on the inside is NOT one of my specialies...I am definitely an OUTDOOR Grower who just plants it and allows GOD to keep them all alive.)
    So let's get this going (and I can make the 11pm deadline and then fall totally exhausted into bed)! Allow me to lead on.....

Using the Tim Holtz Alterations Movers and Shapers Dies are SO FUN!!! I have (I think) every one of them and almost all of the inside cutters, too- THANX to some AWESOME Ladies who do the Destash Sales and get rid of their "junk" to become others' TREASURES !!

I used some plain old cardboard from Amazon trashed boxes my ChiefHubby saves for me from all his purchases. I started calling him "Mr. Amazon" because he LOVES the ease of ordering from that site for both home use and church use. You would NOT BELIEVE the stuff our UPS Driver has delivered here. He often starts to ask me...then just shakes his head and gives me that "look" we both have gotten used to sharing over the ChiefHubby's finds.

I wanted some 'old look' on here so I chose to use the TH GrungePaper and cut up some of my own "hardware".

Then, I finally had gotten my hands on some HUGE CLEARANCE scores at JoAnn Fabrics on a bunch of TH items they were getting rid of to make room for new items....AND also begin selling certain items online only; included in this is most of the heavy TH dies.
(But: they usually have shipping "specials" and the ChiefHubby says it is "cheaper" for his wifey to order online and have it shipped....because my cart is SMALLER...???? What. Ever. *eyeroll*)

The photo I used here was taken as a "ReEnactment" with a bunch of our Besties at King's Island, Ohio, during our 25th Anniversary. We had gone there over our Honeymoon in July 1984, since the entire family had come for the whole week of our wedding (to also go to the Family Reunion the next weekend), so we chose to go a short distance in order to spend time back home during that week also, after our big wedding. We had taken a "fun" photo during that Honeymoon, and wanted to do it over again- with all our friends during a SpiritSongFest at the same amusement park. Our kids were in this one, too. But I chose to fit just the ChiefHubby and I in this one. Sorry, guys!!!  :)

 This is the inside....and the photos of me (that little curly blonde TH Paper Doll is veeeeery close to what I looked like)...still have naturally UNRULY hair....that I iron flat now!!!
